The United States Geological Survey reports on Oct. 21 that a preliminary 3.7 magnitude earthquake was recorded at 3:25 p.m. eight miles southeast of Helena. That quake was followed by a preliminary 4.0 magnitude earthquake, recorded at 3:26 p.m. 19 miles northwest of Fairview. A third earthquake, a preliminary 3.5 magnitude, was recorded at 3:48 19 miles northwest of Fairview.
