Some arrived at Chicago's Mount Sinai Hospital with needles still stuck in their arms.

The law is based on a similar measure in Oregon and will allow doctors to prescribe medication to end someone’s life. The only stipulation is two doctors must agree the patient is mentally competent and only has six months to live.
