The Earth could be headed for a 'mini ice age' researchers have warned. A new study claims to have cracked predicting solar cycles - and says that between 2020 and 2030 solar cycles will cancel each other out. This...will lead to a phenomenon known as the 'Maunder minimum'...known as a mini ice age when it hit between 1646 and 1715, even causing London's River Thames to freeze over.  
Egypt explosion hits Italian consulate in Cairo
A large explosion has severely damaged the Italian consulate in Egypt's capital, Cairo. The health ministry says at least one person has died. Four people were also injured, medical sources said. The blast was caused by a car bomb, an official told the state-run news agency Mena. No group has yet said it carried out the attack.  
US briefs Israel on final Iran nuclear negotiations
The American team negotiating with Iran over its nuclear program has briefed Israel on the state in the talks, a senior US administration official told The Jerusalem Post over the weekend. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman, serving as US President Barack Obama's chief negotiator with Iran, spoke with Israel's National Security Advisor Yossi Cohen on Thursday.

Pope Francis to be Tried by Sanhedrin
A re-established and self declared Israeli Sanhedrin, the religious High Court composed of 71 sages, has declared that it is putting Pope Francis on trial unless he retracts his statement that the Jews have no right to the land of Israel or to Jerusalem. In February 2013, the Vatican officially recognized the “State of Palestine” but more significantly, the Vatican signed a treaty in June with “Palestine” in which the Holy See switched its diplomatic relations from the Palestinian Liberation Organization to the “State of Palestine." This treaty is the first legal document negotiated between the Holy See and the Palestinian state and as such, constitutes an official recognition.

The Chinese government just took drastic steps to save the stock market
China is stepping in to try and save its flailing stock market. According to a Bloomberg report on Saturday, officials are suspending Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) – as many as 28 on the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges – to deal with the tumble in stocks. Stopping new companies from going public in IPOs may reduce the flow of cash from existing stocks, Bloomberg notes.

Poll: 70 percent of Americans believe news media is intentionally biased
Nearly three quarters of Americans believe the news media reports with an intentional bias, according to a new survey. The 2015 State of the First Amendment Survey, conducted by the First Amendment Center and USA Today, was released Friday. It shows that only 24 percent of American adults agree with the statement that "overall, the news media tries to report the news without bias," while 70 percent disagree.
